Kate Middleton was feeling nostalgic as she kicked off Halloween with an adorable never-seen photo of Prince Louis. On October 31, the Princess of Wales showed off her amateur photography skills as she captured her youngest son during a rare festive moment at the Wales family’s home in Norfolk.

Kate was in doting mom mode as she reminisced on one of Louis’s first Halloween celebrations by sharing a photo of the then-1-year-old cradling a pumpkin in a garden—marking the first time that she or husband Prince William have shared a post on Halloween.

Happy Halloween! 🎃,” she captioned a post shared on her and Williams’s Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account. Kate revealed that she’d taken the photo, adding, “Prince Louis, aged 1, photographed by The Princess of Wales.”

In the candid image, Louis, now 8, showed off a glimpse of his signature spunky personality. The young royal could be seen sporting long blonde hair, a navy blue rain jacket, cuffed blue jeans, and a pair of orange boots as he played outside. Louis appeared to be entranced by a large orange pumpkin in the garden, grinning and crouching down to embrace the large gourd, which reached all the way up to his chest.
